We believe that environmental sustainability is the responsibility of every individual, business and organisation. Ensuring the environmental health of our country and our planet for future generations is something we take very seriously. We are proud to be a supporter of New Zealand Tourism Sustainability Commitment.

Some of our Responsible Tourism Initiatives include:

Guest Rooms

• Recycling facilities for guests
• Pillows featuring microfiber filling made out of 26 recycled plastic bottles
• Koura Body, New Zealand made natural toiletries in recyclable containers
• Option for guests to reuse linen and towels, to reduce the use of water and chemical detergents
• Removal of plastic rubbish bin liners
• Installation of water reducing shower-heads and dual flush toilets, where possible

Restaurant and Meeting Room

• Water served in jugs instead of plastic bottled water
• Menus created using locally grown organic ingredients
• Removal of plastic straws and plastic jam containers
• Partner with environmentally aware local suppliers
• Eco-friendly metal pens

Best Practices

• Energy saving light bulbs installed, where possible
• Recycling and waste management programs in place
• Reduce paper by using electronic documentation, where possible
• Sale of re-usable coffee cups, bags and Koura Body skincare range
• Back to Base Soap recycling program
• Printer and copier toner recycling
• Planting of native tree species in hotel premises
• Ongoing staff training to improve our carbon footprint
